Hemorrhoids Pain in Groin
First Time With Hemorrhoids? Tips You Need to Know on Treating and …
If you are suffering from hemorrhoids (or hemoroids) for the first time, then you are probably looking for a quick solution to your pain and itching. First of all, you are not alone. Nearly 80% of all adults will have hemorrhoids at some point in their life. Okay, now that you have the answer to the "why me" question, here are a few tips to not only take care of your immediate discomfort but prevent a recurrence as well.
Hemorrhoids are weakened veins located in the anal area. Because they are weak, they will bulge or expand essentially taking up space that they were not designed to be. This exposes them to a number of pressures, be it from straining during a bowel movement or simply prolonged sitting. These pressures are what causes the pain and itching. The treatment then is to shrink the veins and get them back in their original position.
Preparation H and other commercial creams are astringents and they shrink the hemorrhoids. If you want to save a little money you can use Witch Hazel or even Vicks Vapo Rub. Chill the Witch Hazel in the fridge then apply it to the area with a cotton ball and keep it there until the cotton no longer feels cool. Barbers have been using Witch Hazel for decades to stop bleeding from nicks. It works well on hemorrhoids too. The Vicks can be applied directly to the affected area.
If you are into natural cures (and you have a blender or food processor) cranberries and potatoes both make an excellent astringent when ground up. Dry the cranberries then grind them. You can mix a little water and flower into the powder to make a paste and then apply. The potatoes should be blended then put in cheesecloth and pressed against the area for at least ten minutes.
Once you get over the symptom, you can take steps to avoid another episode. Nopt only will these tips reduce the chances of hemorrhoids coming back, they will have an exceptional impact on other parts of your health as well.
- Start each morning with a breakfast rich in fiber. The less processed your breakfast food is, the higher the dietary fiber. Natural sources include citrus fruits, apples, nuts as well as beans, corn and rice.
- Drink at least 8 eight ounce glasses of water a day. This softens stools and also hydrates your body strengthening tissue.
- Avoid prolonged sitting. Give your butt a break and stand up at least for a few minutes every hour.
- Avoid fluids that dehydrate the body like coffee, soda and alcohol.
- Get some aerobic exercise each day. Even if it is just a 15 minute walk, it’s important for blood circulation.
- Don’t do heavy lifting that strains your back or groin area. That kind of strain can bring on another episode of hemorrhoids.
- Eat in moderation and stay away from foods that are high in fat.
Sounds like a weight loss program doesn’t it? Actually it is just a balance of diet and exercise that will keep your body functioning the way it was designed.
Remember, treating the symptoms is not a cure. The only way to cure hemorrhoids is through a healthy lifestyle.
