Treating Hemorrhoids in Pregnancy
Hemorrhoids are extremely common during pregnancy. If you are prone to them and have had them before pregnancy, you will probably have them many times again. Some women don’t have them until childbirith and that is due to the pushing and straining.
There are simple ways for naturally treating hemorrhoids in pregnancy at home.
- Take sitz baths. Sit in the bathtub full of warm water for at least twenty minutes at a time. Repeat these baths throughout your day to relax the sphincter muscle to aid in pain relief.
- Only use unscented and dye-free toilet paper. Use at least 2-ply and gently clean yourself after each bowel movement.
- Clean yourself using a wipe specifically for hemorrhoids and then apply vitamin E oil directly on the hemorrhoid using a cotton ball for some soothing relief.
- Witch hazel is a healing compound and you can soak a cold compress in it and apply on the hemorrhoid.
- Eliminate processed foods from your diet. Eat lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grains and flaxseed oil in order to have soft stools to avoid straining.
How Long Does It Take Hemorrhoids to Heal…
- Mix sulfur and petroleum jelly and apply to the hemorrhoid up to three times a day.
- Don’t sit or stand for long periods of time.
Treating hemorrhoids in pregnancy can be done naturally and at home. Pregnancy makes you prone to getting them because the uterus is putting additional pressure on the pelvic veins and on the large vein on the right side of the body that gets blood from the lower limbs. It will then slow the return of blood from that part of the body which makes the veins swollen and dilated. If you aren’t having any improvement, see your physician.
